Goals:
To promote the sustainable development of Hong Kong's intellectual disability services, we are organizing the "Award Scheme for Workers Serving Persons with Intellectual Disabilities". Through professional inputs and recognition of outstanding staff, we aim to enhance the services quality for intellectual disabilities in Hong Kong, thus to achieve a harmonious society.
Objectives:
- To recognize outstanding workers serving persons with intellectual disabilities in Hong Kong
- To encourage more newcomers to join the industry
- To unite different sectors of the industry in Hong Kong in line with the efforts to establish a proactive, and positive professional image.
- Enhance the communities’ recognition and appreciation for the service personnel in the industry
Awards: (Trophy + HK$1,000 Voucher)
For service units of pre-school, school-age, and adult service (intellectual disabilities), the following awards categories are available:
Professional Staff Category
Recognition Award: 5 recipients
New Talent Award: 2 recipients
Supporting Staff Category
Recognition Award: 5 recipients
New Talent Award: 2 recipients
Note: Professional Staff (e.g., Teachers/Social Workers/Therapists/Nurses/Psychologists)
Supporting Staff (e.g., Instructors/Welfare Workers/Health Workers/Assistants/Clerks/General Workers/Drivers/Cooks)
Additional: Nominators of award recipients will receive certificates of appreciation and vouchers
Assessment Criteria:
- Knowledge & Skills: proficiency, balanced focus, innovation-driven, knowledge-aspiration
- Service Attitude: caring, dedication, responsive to needs, adaptability
- Team Collaboration: leading by role model, collaborative engagement, effective communication, team building
- Personal Qualities: professionalism, competency, optimistic attitude, positive thinking
Eligibility and Details:
- Participants must be nominated by registered pre-school, school-age, or adult service organization/unit (intellectual disabilities) in Hong Kong
- Nominees will first be screened by our (AWID) Council, followed by preliminary selection by the " Committee for 2025 Award Scheme "
- Shortlisted participants will undergo final assessment (including interviews) by the "2025 Award Scheme Panel"
- Panel members are professionals/senior scholars from the industry who will select awardees based on their outstanding performance/contributions in their professional or supporting roles
Recognition Award
- Participants must have 3 or more years of service in the same organization as professional/supporting staff
- Each service unit can nominate 1 person per category
New Talent Award
- Participants must have at least 1 year but less than 3 years of service in the same organization/unit as professional/supporting staff
- Each service unit can nominate 1 person per category
Important Notes:
- Participants must be full-time employees of registered pre-school, school-age, or adult service organization (intellectual disabilities) in Hong Kong
- Nominators cannot be participants
- Late application is NOT accepted
- Participants must attend the final selection interview arranged by the "2025 Award Scheme Panel"
- Award recipienta must provide consent for the organization to use their images and videos for public promotion, display, exhibition, and printing purposes, including but not limited to photographs and short videos.
- Award recipients are required to engage in media access during the event (subject to event arrangements)
- NO appeal mechanism for the scheme; all decisions will be based on the selection criteria/standards and final results
- Submitted materials for the scheme will not be returned, and will be destroyed within six months after the scheme concludes, without further notice.
Note: To avoid conflicts of interest, members of Selection Committee, AWID Council, and their family members of the AWID are not eligible to participate in this award scheme.

Remarks: The Association has the final right to interpret the terms and content of the Award Scheme. It reserves the right to cancel, amend, or terminate this program. Participants shall have no right to claim any compensation.
